OCD of Contamination / Cleanliness

OCD of contamination or cleanliness is an obsessive disorder in which the victim remains fearful of his/her hands, clothes or the entire body as if it is dirty. In this case, the sufferer attends washroom constantly in order to wash hands or to take a bath. There is no denying of the fact, cleanliness, both physical and spiritual, said to be half of the faith (Emaan) in the hadith. But, a recently conducted research explains that due to the excessive bath or shower, the immune system of the body gets weakened. The immune system is a defence mechanism which protects the body from viruses, fungi, bacteria, parasites and various toxins in the body. Consequently, germs and bacteria can easily attack the body and can cuase perilous disease. The OCD of cleanliness is frequently faced by worshipers when they consider themselves physically unclean during the said type of mental ilness.
